If there is one piece I took away from Tulum is it brought out the strength in me. It tore me down, literally burned me alive and by the end of the trip I became a little more rsilient!

The Itinerary

Top 3 Things we would recommend

Not Recommended

  • Don't fall for overpriced tours that don't offer much value.

  • Most of the large resorts have on-site events and experiences and you don't have to stay on the property. if you prefer a more intimate experience.

Money & Currency Exchange

  • Get at least $1000.00 of cash at the Airport when you land

  • There are two airports you can go into Tulum with. Cancun and Tulum, Cancun might be cheaper but's a two hour shuttle.

  • Currency: The local currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN), but USD is widely accepted.

Travel and Transportation

  1. Download a currency exchange app

  2. A lot of people told us to use the buses when going to and from locations. We saw a lot of tourists walks miles to make it to the bus, just to be sitting in the middle of city. I think the nightlight in Tulum is prominently safe, but we wanted to avoid sitting at bus stops for extended periods of time. Tulum is so much bigger than people think. Car rentals are easy and inexpensive. If you do rent a car, just be super careful about where you park.

General Things to Know About Tulum

  • Weather: Tulum has a tropical climate; pack light clothing, sunscreen, and a hat.

  • Safety: Tulum is generally safe, but remain cautious and avoid isolated areas at night.

  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and cafes, but may be limited in some areas. Consider getting a VPN! I have one through work, but they are fairly inexpensive!

  • Health: There are very few hospitals there. There are pharmacies on just about every street corner because of this. However, it's limited. Be super careful.
